For those new to guiding, being guided to fish has several advantages for the angler, especially one on holiday or fishing new fisheries for the first time. Guiding is offered to experienced and inexperienced anglers.

Having a local guide ensures that you do not waste time trying to find your way around, accessing rivers or loughs, trying to find where the fish may be and understanding which tickets or permits you need.

For example, with the Foyle, a large spate river system, each river is unique:

Lower Lough Erne is a large natural freshwater fishery. Weather affects how it fishes. Strong winds are common and must be taken into account when planning an outing; from which launch/recovery site to use to considering fishing safety.

It would be all too easy to book fishing on water that is out of order when you arrive, has no fish present as it’s the wrong time of year or which can be dangerous in certain conditions.

So, if the river’s too high or the lough too rough? ReelDeal are unique in offering a guide service flexible enough to offer fishing most days, as we can move between rivers and lough, offering you the chance to fish no-matter-what.

Some like to try different rivers, boat fishing in the Irish Lough style or a day sightseeing and we can provide this at short notice using the same guide.

Typically, our guide arranges your fishing with you beforehand. Generally the day is up to 8 hours (or longer if agreed) from the time you meet until you depart. He will collect you from your accommodation or meet you at the fishing venue and spend the day with you, either fishing with or assisting you as you wish. Whether afloat or wading, safety equipment is provided, and flies or equipment are available to borrow should you wish, although any losses or damage must be paid for.
